What is the difference between Cat5e and Cat6 cables?

Cat6 supports speeds up to 10 Gbps at 55 meters and 1 Gbps at 100 meters with 250 MHz bandwidth. Cat5e supports 1 Gbps at 100 meters with 100 MHz bandwidth. Cat6 has tighter twist rates and better crosstalk rejection.

Can I use Cat6 cables for PoE?

Yes. Cat6 cables support all PoE standards including IEEE 802.3bt Type 4 which delivers up to 90W. The 23 AWG solid copper conductors handle the current load with minimal voltage drop over standard cable runs.

What is the difference between plenum and riser Cat6 cable?

Plenum rated CMP cable has a fire-retardant jacket for installation in air-handling spaces above drop ceilings and below raised floors. Riser rated CMR cable is for vertical runs between floors. Plenum cable can be used in riser spaces but not vice versa.
