Conversions Tech® Lever-Nut FAQ
(2-Port • 3-Port • 5-Port | 12–28 AWG Solid & Stranded)
Expand a question below to discover why our UL 486C-listed Lever-Nuts deliver faster, safer terminations than twist-on wire nuts and beat WAGO 221, Ideal In-Sure and AmazonBasics clones in every critical metric.
1. What is a Lever-Nut?
A Lever-Nut is a spring-cage push-in connector with a flip
lever that clamps individual conductors—no twisting, taping or ferrules
required. It’s reusable and vibration-proof, making it ideal for
residential, commercial and low-voltage splicing.
2. What conductor sizes do Conversions Tech Lever-Nuts accept?
12–24 AWG solid, 12–22 AWG stranded, and 12–20 AWG flexible (ferruled).
Metric: 0.2–4 mm².
3. Voltage and current ratings?
600 V AC/DC (UL), 1 000 V DC (IEC) up to 30 A per port at 105 °C
insulation class.
4. Which port counts are available?
2-port, 3-port and 5-port bodies in both clear polycarbonate
(standard) and high-visibility orange (HV series).
5. Conversions Tech vs. WAGO 221—what’s different?
We match WAGO’s spring-steel cage spec but add a
glide-assist cam for 20 % lower lever force, UL 94-V0
flame-retardant housing and a lifetime crimp-cycle warranty—
all at ~25 % lower cost per connector.
6. UL and CSA certifications?
Yes—UL 486C (E347921) and cUL for 600 V, 30 A, 105 °C;
also CE and RoHS-3 compliant.
7. Temperature rating?
−40 °F → +221 °F (−40 °C → +105 °C) continuous; polycarbonate
is UV stabilized for attic installs.
8. How many reuse cycles?
Tested to 100 open/close operations with no loss of clamping force.
9. Do they meet NEC box-fill rules?
Yes—each port counts as one conductor of the largest gauge present;
see NEC 314.16(B). Volume per body is printed on the datasheet.
10. Copper-to-aluminum splicing?
No—use AL/CU rated purple crimp sleeves. Lever-Nuts are for
CU or tinned conductors only.
11. Are they vibration-proof?
Spring-cage tension keeps constant pressure even under
5g vibration (ASTM D999).
12. Strip length guide?
0.43 in (11 mm)—a strip gauge is molded into every housing.
13. Acceptable wire types?
THHN/THWN, XHHW-2, MTW, TEW, stranded speaker cable,
bell wire and ferruled flexible cord.
14. Can they be mounted on DIN rail?
Yes—snap-on DIN adapters (PN CT-DIN-A) hold up to five
Lever-Nuts per rail slot.
15. Flammability classification?
UL 94-V0 self-extinguishing polycarbonate;
passes VW-1 flame test.
16. Torque screw required?
None—lever cam replaces screw tightening,
eliminating stripped threads and time loss.
17. Are the conductors individually test-port accessible?
Yes—2.0 mm test slots on each port accept multimeter probes
without removing wires.
18. Outdoor or damp-location use?
Listed for dry or damp locations; use
NEMA 3R/4X enclosure for wet or direct-bury installs.
19. Packaging options?
Contractor tubs (100 pcs), retail blister (10 pcs) and
bulk reels (500 pcs, tear-off) with QR inventory labels.
20. Lead-free & RoHS status?
All metal parts are copper alloy <0.1 % lead.
RoHS-3, REACH SVHC and Proposition 65 compliant.
21. Are color-coded levers available?
Yes—orange (standard), blue (low-voltage), yellow (control), red (DC solar).
Specify suffix “-BL”, “-YL” or “-RD”.
22. Can I splice mixed gauges?
Yes—each port independently clamps; e.g., 12 AWG hot with 16 AWG pigtail
is compliant.
23. Operating frequency for RF/antenna?
Up to 30 MHz without noticeable insertion loss—suitable for speaker and
control lines but not 2.4 GHz coax.
24. Do they meet IEC EN 60998?
Yes—IEC 60998-2-2 certified for global CE markets
(1 000 V DC rated).
25. Shelf-life and storage?
Unlimited when kept below 140 °F; stainless spring resists creep.
26. Warranty?
Lifetime against spring fatigue and housing cracks.
Register within 60 days for advance replacement.
27. Where can I buy genuine Conversions Tech Lever-Nuts?
conversionstech.com, Amazon (Sold by Conversions Tech),
WESCO, Graybar, Home Electrical and other authorized partners.
