Gauge, jacket, and length
18 AWG SJT handles 10 A, which covers every C13 device; 12 AWG SJT is required for the 20 A C19/C20 class. SPT-2 is the flat two-conductor jacket on figure-8 cords. Length is a voltage-drop question only at 12 ft on 20 A loads; for everything else pick the shortest cord that reaches, because slack in a rack is a cable-management problem, not a spare.
