Gauge and length
Voltage drop, not the rating stamp, decides the gauge on a long run: 12 AWG holds 15 A to 100 ft; 14 AWG is fine to 50 ft; 16 AWG is a 13 A, 30 ft light-duty cord. For 30 A use 10 AWG, for 50 A use 6 AWG on the hots. STW is the outdoor-rated hard-service jacket on the 30 and 50 A cords; SJTW and SJTOW on the 15 A cords and reels.
