Choosing an outdoor box or enclosure
For device-level protection — receptacles, switches, fixture connections — use a gasketed weatherproof box sized by gang count and hub configuration. For equipment protection — controls, terminal blocks, PLCs — step up to a NEMA-rated enclosure: NEMA 3R handles rain and sleet, NEMA 4/4X adds hose-directed water and (4X) corrosion resistance for coastal or washdown environments.
