Split Bolt Connectors

Copper split bolt connectors, 8 AWG through 500 kcmil — high-strength copper-alloy bodies, 600 V / 90°C, UL 486A/B and UL 467 class, suitable for direct burial in earth or concrete. Ten sizes cover the same breaks as ILSCO Type IK and cross directly to Burndy SERVIT® KS, Blackburn Type H, and NSI N-series. Stocked; same-day shipping by 2PM ET; trade accounts on Net-30.

Sizing: pick by the larger conductor first — the run must sit inside the connector's equal main and tap range — then confirm the tap is at or above the minimum tap figure. Copper-alloy split bolts are for copper and copperweld only; aluminum or Cu/Al work needs a dual-rated body with a spacer. Torque to the marked value and insulate to the conductor rating per NEC 110.14(B).

Where they belong: service and feeder taps in troughs and wireways, bonding jumpers, accessible grounding electrode conductor taps, ground bars, temporary power, and repair splices. Where they don't: buried or encased GEC splices — NEC 250.64(C)(1) requires irreversible compression or exothermic weld there.

Crosses identify copper-alloy split bolts of equivalent published range on the same UL 486A basis; dual-rated Cu/Al bodies (Burndy KSU, ILSCO SK, Blackburn HPS/HPW) are a separate class. *NSI numbers follow the family's max-size naming; verify on datasheet. Torque values are for maximum conductors — follow the marking on the connector.
