CT 880-012106water heater bonding jumper kit, 2 AWG–10 AWG. Two bronze pipe grounding clamps and a bare copper bonding conductor, sized to jumper hot-to-cold across a water heater so the metal water piping stays bonded to the grounding electrode system when the heater is removed. Kit covers 10 AWG through 2 AWG conductor and the common 1/2"–1" residential pipe sizes.

Part No. 880-012106
Contents 2 × bronze pipe ground clamps (1/2–1 in pipe), bare copper bonding conductor
Conductor range 10 AWG – 2 AWG Cu
Clamp material Cast bronze body, bronze screws (copper, brass, or galvanized pipe)
Listing class UL 467 grounding & bonding clamps

Cross-reference

Sold as a kit; no single competitor catalog number. Component class crosses to bronze water-pipe ground clamps (Burndy GAR, ILSCO GRC, Bridgeport, Dottie) in the 1/2"–1" size.

Where it's required

  • Metal water piping bonded to the service grounding electrode system — NEC 250.104(A)
  • Continuity around equipment likely to be removed — NEC 250.68(B) requires the bonding jumper around the water heater, meter, and filters
  • Jurisdictions citing the water heater jumper for gas-piping bonding via the appliance — NEC 250.104(B)

How to install

Clean the pipe to bare metal, mount one clamp on the cold inlet and one on the hot outlet upstream of any dielectric union, land the bonding conductor in each clamp's lay-in saddle, and torque the clamp screws. Size the conductor from Table 250.102(C)(1) (commonly 6 or 4 AWG on residential services). Keep the clamps accessible. Code detail: Grounding Accessories and the NEC.
