One CT connector spans the conductor range Burndy splits across two catalog numbers. Cross-references identify equivalent function and conductor/rod range; verify die selection against the index stamped on the connector.
Where it's used
- 1" rod beds on transmission and substation grounding grids with IEEE 837-class connection specs
- Deep-driven and sectional rod installations where the connection stays buried — no access box required (NEC 250.68(A) Exception)
- High-fault-current sites running 250 MCM grid conductor
How to install
Drive the rod to depth, wire-brush rod and conductor to bright metal, seat the sleeve with conductor tail visible past both ends, and crimp with the stamped die index until the dies fully bottom — first crimp at the barrel center, working outward until the barrel is covered. Why irreversible compression
NEC 250.64(C)(1) permits grounding electrode conductor splices only by irreversible compression or exothermic welding. Compression installs in wet trenches with no hot-work permit, and every crimp embosses its die index for inspection. More: Where, How, and Why to Use Irreversible Compression Grounding.
