What lug do I use for 4/0 THHN copper wire?

A standard 4/0 AWG copper compression lug — THHN is Class B stranding, so any UL 486A/B Listed lug fits. Use a 4/0 one-hole lug for equipment terminations or a 4/0 two-hole lug for switchgear pads; choose long barrel for a two-crimp feeder termination.

What lug do I use for 2/0 welding cable?

A flex-rated lug identified for Class K/M conductors — not a standard lug. Welding cable is fine-strand Class K, and NEC 110.14 requires class-identified terminals; a standard 2/0 lug on welding cable is a code violation and a loose-connection risk. Do I need a special lug for DLO cable?

Yes. DLO is Class I/K fine-strand cable, so it requires a flex-rated lug listed for those conductor classes. The barrel volume of a standard lug is too small for the compaction behavior of fine strands — the crimp loosens under thermal cycling even if it looks correct on day one.

What connector fits Southwire SIMpull XHHW-2?

Any standard copper compression lug in the matching gauge — XHHW-2 is Class B building wire. For feeders and service conductors, a long-barrel (two-crimp) lug adds mechanical security; browse by gauge in the one-hole collection.

What lug should I use for USE-2 solar feeder wire?

USE-2 is Class B, so standard lugs are compliant — but for PV interconnects we recommend a long-barrel copper lug: the two-crimp barrel resists the vibration and thermal cycling of rooftop DC runs. Common solar sizes: 6 AWG, 1/0, 4/0.

Can I crimp a standard lug on battery or EV cable?

No. Battery, inverter and EV cable is Class K fine-strand; it needs a flex-rated, class-identified lug — tinned for marine and outdoor battery banks. A standard lug under-compresses the fine strands and becomes a heat source at high DC current.

When do I need a two-hole lug instead of one-hole?
