Where insulated multi-taps earn their keep: any place you'd otherwise stack split bolts and tape, or pay for a crimp die you'll use twice. This guide covers the major applications, what the code expects in each, and which configuration to reach for.
Service & Feeder Taps
The classic use: tapping service or feeder conductors in a gutter, trough, or termination cabinet without cutting the run. Dual-side and offset entries let the main pass straight through while the tap exits cleanly. Watch conductor fill and bend radius in the enclosure, and confirm the tap conductors carry appropriate overcurrent protection per NEC 240.21 tap rules.
Panelboard & Gutter Distribution
Feeding multiple breakers or disconnects from one set of feeder conductors: a 4-port block replaces a rat's nest of split bolts with one torqueable, insulated, inspectable termination. Because the housing is factory-insulated, no taping is required and the assembly can be re-entered for future circuit additions.
Solar & Energy Storage

Aluminum-to-Copper Transitions
Retrofit work constantly marries old aluminum feeders to new copper equipment.
