Will a FAKRA Z extension work with my blue/black/beige FAKRA plug?
Yes. Z is the universal key in the FAKRA standard - the water-blue Z housing is keyed to mate with every color code (A radio, C GPS, D cellular, I SDARS and the rest). One Z extension covers all of them.
Does an extension cable weaken my GPS or radio signal?
Any coax adds some loss, but at GPS/cellular frequencies a quality 50-ohm shielded extension of 10-20 ft adds only a small fraction of a dB - not noticeable in practice. Poor or unshielded cable is what causes dropouts.
Male or female - which end do I need?
FAKRA extensions are female-to-male: the female end accepts your existing antenna plug, the male end plugs into the head unit or tuner exactly like the original did. It installs inline with no rewiring.
Is this the same connector my RV or car factory harness uses?
Yes - FAKRA is the automotive industry standard (ISO 20860 / USCAR-18) used by virtually every OEM for radio, GPS, satellite and telematics antennas, and by RV manufacturers for tuner and antenna runs.
What is the difference between FAKRA and SMB?
