Choosing the Right HDMI Cable
Two things determine whether an HDMI cable works for your installation: the speed certification class and the length/gauge combination. Brand names matter far less than these two specs.

Length and gauge
Copper HDMI is reliable to about 25 ft at full bandwidth with 28 AWG conductors; heavier 26-24 AWG extends reach. Past 35-50 ft, use an Active Optical Cable (AOC) - fiber inside an HDMI jacket, good to 300 ft with zero signal loss.

In-wall installs
For cable inside walls or plenum spaces, code requires CL2/CL3 (or plenum) rated jackets per NEC Article 800-class rules. Check the jacket print, not the box.
